The nite I was comped for having to change rooms, and the friendly maintenance guy, he was very polite, we saw each other every day as this motel has sadly been let go.
300 words can only begin to cover what I disliked about this motel! Had the water shut off before my shower and had to change rooms, no hot water in 2nd room, was told to let it run for 15-20 minutes, got lukewarm then back to cold. Had to stay 10 days with no shower coz I could not afford to back out of my reservation. My grandchildren came to visit and we were having a wonderful time until we discovered feces in the pool we were in. I have stayed in this motel for years and it has slowly gone from an upscale place to a filthy dive. A friend who was going to stay with me did a walk through and refused to stay, warned me of piles of dirt in the lobby. Three days later it was still there when I arrived. I would not let my dog stay there, if I had one, and I hate dogs
For the price and location to South Bend, the motel was very convenient. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The free breakfast coupon to Callahans was also a nice accessorie. Enjoyed it and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
Hotel staff was helpful and polite. Breakfast at Calahans was good.
Hot tub was broken and staff stated it had been broken for 6 months. Little things needed addressed like burned out light bulbs and leaky air conditioners.
Cheap and right by highway.
Very run down.
You do not advertise that you have a inside and outside pools and a hot tub, then when your guess arrives and checkes in fines out the outside pool has a cover over it and the inside pool is not heated and the hot tub is shut down for cleaning. Nobody was working on the hot tub that afternoon or nobody was working on it the next morning cleaning it. So we paid full price for items that we could not use. We could of stayed in a hotel down the street that only had a bed for have the price. I saw cars coming in with kids. It is pretty good thinking they will not be back. I know you will not be open to long on the way you handle your guest. It was a very bad experance. We will not be back. Please make sure you post this onn the web. Guest need to know you are a very poor managed hotel. This was the reason we picked your hotel. Thank You
front desk service was friendly and helpful
asked for non smoking room, first room assigned had an ash tray... hmmm staff courteous and changed room. The second had a noisy exhaust fan. The tub looked dirty/ moldy. Some kind of covering coming loose off the bottom.
It was good value for what we wanted. Undergoing renovations from change of management/chain of brand identity. But during this transition time, staff was good. Although resturant once attached (Bennigan's) was closed, location made up for it as there were numerous choices to select from some walking distance away. We were in area for "other" reasons other than pure pleasure and needed only a place to sleep and this fit the bill hands down. We were not looking for a lobby bar and entertainment.
Outdoor pool closed, but area was in draught, indoor pool open, but hot tub not in service. There was no elevator to go to the second floor which would normally be no problem, but with arthritis in the knee, it was not the best situation for me. I did not ask for a handicap room when I booked the room. All this said, I would return to this place again when I need a room in the area. It appears the staff was very positive and accomodating do what they could to make your stay comfortable.
We stayed in the suite, the knobs were removed from the heater in the main room, only the heater in the bedroom was equipt to work. One of our room keys failed to work Sat. Evening - fortunately the other worked, by morning they were both useless. These keys were left in the car the entire day, not near a cell phone at any time. We came back after midnight, the office closed @ 11. How were we to have gotten in if both had lost their charge? I felt the suite was too expensive - but it was a football week-end so I guess that explained the price increase - I would stay there again, but not in a suite.
The staff was very nice, however the room was old, warm water showers only, very run down... Way to much $ for the limited accomodations..
It was quiet.
Lightbulbs not working. Some missing.
Comfortable large well appointed rooms locations access to South Bend and Notre Dame University was excellent easy to find
Not so much a complaint as an observation. The hotel has recently changed from a Ramada Inn and in the process their signage is somewhat inadequate. The plastic Belvedere Plastic shell over the Ramada entrance sign was obliterated when the night light underneath was turned on showing the old Ramada signage underneath. A bit confusing. Better to invest in the signage up front to create a positive branding and avoid confusion. It detracted from their actual great facility and cleanliness and comfort.
I'm sure it was an isolated incident, but the night I arrived I was given keys to 2 different rooms that both had guests already in them. It was a mix-up by the front desk, but incredibly embarrassing for me and my 10 year old son since we walked in on people already in the rooms. It took about 30 minutes to get it all straightened out, but the staff did take care of it.
In a previous life the Belvedere was a Ramada hotel ... This is evident by the outline of the Ramada letters on the front of the building and the Belvedere motel 'tarp' which covers the original sign. Please see my comments in the tip section to get my summary of the overall 'experience'
Bugs in bed, grown man preying on young girls, awful experience.
Lobby was very dirty, fresh coffee would have been nice
